Please describe your career path?
Journey to destination: CPhT, Clinical Consultant.
How did your previous roles help prepare you for what you are doing now?
Being a Pharmacy Technician in the Hospital setting I was able to learn the ways in which sterile compounding and aseptic technique processes affected patient health and safety. Through my experience I learned to define the objectives of USP Chapter <797> and understand the training requirements for pharmacy technicians who prepare sterile products. I was then asked to participate in increasing numbers of management-level meetings so as to represent matters from the point of view of the technician. As I became increasingly proficient in my role, I was entrusted with training and coaching newer members of staff, something I much enjoyed and found very rewarding.
How would you describe the environment and culture of MedKeeper?
Amazing collegues, fun, dedicated, innovative and ambitious.
What factors originally drew you to working for MedKeeper?
I had been watching this company for a long time as I was an end user of the product at one point in my Technician Career. I would read their feature releases and saw the innovating way that MedKeeper continually grew. I saw the commitment to customer service and that really caught my eye when I was ready to take my clinical skills to the next level.
What advice do you have for current pharmacy technicians who may be interested in following a similar career path to yours?
The best career or job is the one in which you’re using the skills you enjoy. Challenge yourself to be the best that you can be and work harder than everyone under you or above you. Nothing commands respect more than a good work ethic. Tenacity and persistence are also very important. Even if you feel that your skills aren’t there yet, you can always develop it to what it will eventually be. Remember success isn’t for people who never fail, it’s for people who never quit.
