Please describe your career path?
I worked as an Army medic directly out of high school. I had considered pursuing a career in the healthcare industry, then while attending college I realized that I really enjoy developing software. So, I took a job developing an application for the school. Upon graduation I began working for MedKeeper as a Software Engineer and I couldn’t be happier with my current position.
How did your previous roles help prepare you for what you are doing now?
My time in the Army helped me to develop good teamwork skills as well as teaching me to work well under pressure. My position developing an application while in college, required me to work on my own unsupervised and meet tight deadlines. These are skills and traits that I use everyday working for MedKeeper.
How would you describe the environment and culture of MedKeeper?
MedKeeper has very hard working and dedicated people, everyone pulls their own weight, and people are more than willing to help each other out. This is however balanced with a very fun and laid back work environment.
What factors originally drew you to working for MedKeeper?
I liked the idea of being able to develop software in a healthcare related industry. Ultimately it was after meeting several of the employees that I decided that MedKeeper was the right fit for me.
What advice do you have for current pharmacy technicians who may be interested in following a similar career path to yours?
For those interested in getting into software development in a tech company, my advice would be to work on being self motivated and be willing and excited to learn new technologies often as technology is constantly evolving.
Is there anything else about your experience at MedKeeper that you’d like to share?
Most days I actually look forward to going to work. I couldn’t ask for a better company to work for.
